The Di Zhao DZA-100S alto flute in G has an all silver plated body, and includes both a straight sterling silver headjoint and a silver plated curved head joint. "Had I not already purchased my current alto flute for several thousand dollars more, I would have purchased a Di Zhao." Di Zhao alto flute was recommended by Christine Potter, President of the NFA Low Flutes Committee, as a flute to buy in the under $3,000 price category.
The alto flute is characterized by its distinct, mellow tone in the lower portion of its range. It is a transposing instrument in the key of G, and like the piccolo and the bass flute, uses the same fingerings as the C-flute.

Christine Potter, President of NFA Low Flutes Committee recommended the Di Zhao alto as a " flute to buy in the under $2,500 price category" ... it has an excellent response in the low register and an excellent scale.
Thanks to Bill Hutzel and The Flute Loft for providing me Di Zhao Alto and Bass Flutes during the presentation of "Just Flutes Solo Project" - from Michele Gori, featured flutist at the Mid-Atlantic Flute Fair in 2012
A good option is the DiZhao alto flute. A friend of mine just bought it new and is very happy - Fluteland.com/board flute message board topic Buying an Alto Flute
It is my opinion, as well as that of several of my professional flutist friends, that currently the best value in the alto flute market is the Di Zhao. I have a Sankyo, which is a killer instrument, and I can quite honestly say that the Di Zhao plays nearly as well, for about $6,000 less - Review on http://forum.saxontheweb.net/showthread.php?156149-Brio-alto-flutes-Are-they-any-good
I can also honestly say that I too find that the Di Zhao plays nearly as well as my Miyazawa for $6,000 less. I purchased my Miyazawa alto flute several years ago just prior to the Di Zhao alto flute being manufactured. I didn't want to spend $7,900 on an alto at the time, but I found nothing that impressed me in the $2,500+ range. Had the Di Zhao alto flute been available then, I would have snatched it up in an instant. Comes with both a straight and curved head joint. - Review on http://forum.saxontheweb.net/showthread.php?156149-Brio-alto-flutes-Are-they-any-good
Dear Bill, I love my new alto flute and I appreciate that you stopped at my home to let me
try the two altos out! Thank you so much for the great pointers you gave me too
in playing the alto flute as they have been very helpful! The Di Zhao alto has
such a beautiful, full, rich, projecting tone and the price is awesome! I can't
wait to play the alto in the flute choir this evening and in an alto flute trio
that I perform with! Mr. Di Zhao makes such beautiful flutes and piccolos at
such reasonable prices! I will continue to recommend the Di Zhao to my
students! - Janeanne Wantz, Flute Teacher and principle flute with the West Shore Symphony
