Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons is probably
Vivaldi’s most familiar work, originally written for orchestral strings in the
early 1700’s. In 2007 I arranged the Winter Concerto from Antonio Vivaldi’s
Four Seasons for 5 flutes (3 C-flutes, alto and bass flutes). It is in the key of F minor. Unlike the original composition where there
is a principal violin, here all flutes are given equal opportunity to be
challenged. The trick is to make flutes, parts 1, 2 and 3, sound seamlessly as one
flute.
